Child Development Staff Members Achieve CLASS reliability
Congratulations to child development staff members on achieving CLASS reliability. The following education staff, Gloria Kelley, Doris Patterson, Virginia Mitchell, and Alma Williams completed the CLASS training in 2010 and successfully passed the re-certification test in 2011. CLASS is an observational instrument developed at the University of Virginia to assess quality in pre-school classrooms. It has been validated in over 2,000 preschool classrooms and can be used to reliably assess important dimensions of classroom quality in ICS Head Start classrooms. CLASS will be used to assess interactions between children and teachers in the domains of Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support. Teacher assessment using CLASS will serve as important indicators that ICS children are “on the road to school readiness.”
